    ABOUT US

Varnan Manufacturing is a small, privately held company in Paris, KY.

The Varnan Waterer is a two-piece waterer made of very heavy plastic - rotomolded polyethylene. The waterers are sturdy and able to withstand the inevitable rubbing from itchy horses. Being of round construction there are no hard edges. Additionally, to prevent damage to the lip of the tub from horses chewing or pulling, we make an “anti-crib” ring that fits over the top rim of the water tub.  Varnan waterers have been installed in Canada, Minnesota, and Michigan, and the company has not had any reports of plastic cracking in those cold environments. Unless you live in a climate that never goes below freezing, we recommend super insulation and heat.

There is no heavy lifting with the Varnan water tub, as it is easily removed and therefore easy to clean. Many farms keep extra tubs on hand so that it is possible to switch them out in order to give them a thorough cleaning without removing the water source from the livestock.

Because Hubert Johnston, the originator of Varnan Waterers, was a hands-on horseman and often times a one-man maintenance crew, he designed the waterer so that the working parts can be changed by hand – no tools needed.  In past times, Hube found that whatever he needed to make a repair was usually a different sized tool or needed something other than what he had on hand.
